Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s G1 winning sire Pathfork looks to have a smart sort on his hands in the form of Dressed To Impress.
The latter, a 3yo filly bred by Highlands, made a winning debut over 1160m, when sent out tote favourite, at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Geoff Woodruff, Dressed To Impress lived up to expectations when she powered home to score a first-out, 2.3 length win and she looks above average.
Closely inbred to Mr Prospector, and out of the Western Winter mare Undine, Dressed To Impress was a R400 000 purchase from the 2016 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale.
She was one of two winners for Pathfork (whose daughter Queen Of Alamo recorded her third win when successful at Greyville on Friday night) in South Africa this weekend, with another offspring of the sire, Red Chesnut Road, running second in the Listed Michael Roberts Handicap on Sunday.
Winner of the G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes at two, Red Chesnut Road was only just touched off in the Listed feature and he looks to have another good prize in him.
An unbeaten champion at two, when his wins included the G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes, Pathfork is also responsible for this season’s G3 EFC Worldwide Magnolia Handicap winning filly My Friend Lee.
Another talented performer sired by the son of Distorted Humor is Harlan County, runner up in the Listed Secretariat Stakes and an entrant in Saturday’s G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes.
