Equus Champion, and globetrotting superstar, Jay Peg has enjoyed a good season with his sprinters in 2017-2018.
Not only did his son Silicone Valley win the G2 WSB Cape Merchants this season, but another son, Omega Onslaught, won the Fairview Merchants on Friday afternoon giving Jay Peg a rare Merchants double.
Omega Onslaught, one of two runners in the Merchants for Jay Peg, made it five wins on the bounce when scoring a one length win in Friday afternoon’s 1200m feature for trainer Tara Laing and jockey Ryan Munger, with Laing has now won the Merchants five times!
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the five-year-old gelding, whose previous successes included the Glendore Sprint, has won seven times and has earned R473 575 in stakes. The consistent Omega Onslaught , a bargain R20 000 buy from the 2014 CTS Ready To Run Sale, has only been unplaced 3 times in his 24 outings and he won’t stop here!
Closely inbred to the great mare Lassie Dear, Omega Onslaught, who is out of the Wolfhound mare Alpharhythm, is bred on the same Jay Peg/Wolfhound cross as G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes hero Woljayrine.
A well established sire of such graded stakes winners as Exit Here, Peggy Jay, Silicone Valley and Hot Affair, four time G1 winner Jay Peg has three lots on the 2018 Cape February Yearling Sale:

Lot 40 –a filly from the same family as G1 winning champion Welcome Boy
Lot 58 –a colt, out of a four time winning Western Winter mare, whose granddam is a sister to Australian G1 winners Anacheeva and Headturner
