Pathfork filly lands Guineas plate

19th Nov 2018

Irish Champion Pathfork, who is standing at the Sandown Stud in 2018, is the sire of a very talented filly in the form of Madame Speaker.
The latter scored an impressive victory in Friday’s Guineas Plate, over 1600m at Fairview, where Madame Speaker was dispatched a 1-4 favourite.

Pathfork’s Mighty High

The Stanley Bennett bred 3yo simply outclassed her five rivals to record an emphatic three and a quarter length win over debut winner In A Perfect World, and took her record to five wins, from ten outings, and her earnings to over R500 000 –with the promise of more to come.

Madame Speaker, who was the Eastern Cape’s Champion 2YO Filly last season, is trained by Alan Greeff and was ridden to victory on Friday by Greg Cheyne.

The Pathfork daughter’s previous victories included all of the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup, Listed East Cape Nursery and Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes and she clearly rates among the better fillies of her generation.

Madame Speaker’s G1 National Stakes winning sire Pathfork has some very talented 3yos representing him this season, notably G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Mighty High, the progressive Marchingontogether and the talented Mr Flood. The latter has won three of five starts and is held in high regard by trainer Lucky Houdalakis.

A son of Distorted Humor, from the family of Redoute’s Choice, El Gran Senor and Northern Guest, Pathfork has four lots on offer at Friday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
