Pathfork half-brother entered for Breeders Cup

25th Oct 2018

War Of Will, the promising half-brother to Cape sire Pathfork, is one of 14 two-year-olds pre-entered for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, which is due to be run at Churchill Downs next Friday.

Trained by Mark Casse, the two-year-old War Of Will (by War Front) has been placed in two of his three starts and impressed when runner up in the G1 Summer Stakes two starts ago before finishing a close up fourth in the G3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes on his most recent outing.

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf will be run over a mile and is worth a total purse of $1 000 000.

War Of Will was produced by the Sadler’s Wells sired  Listed Prix de Bagatelle winner Visions Of Clarity.

A half-sister to Irish 2000 Guineas/Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Spinning World, Visions Of Clarity is also responsible for short-lived Birdstone Stakes winner Tacticus as well as Irish champion Pathfork.

Himself an unbeaten G1 winner at two, Pathfork (who is standing at Sandown Stud this year) enjoyed more success at Durbanville on Tuesday when his son Zeb picked up the sixth win of his career for in-form trainer Vaughan Marshall and jockey Greg Cheyne. Zeb has now won three of his last four starts.

Pathfork’s Mighty High

Pathfork has a very strong crop of 3yos representing him this season, with his potential stars including unbeaten G1 Allan Robertson Championship heroine Mighty High and East Cape champion Madame Speaker. The latter is a leading contender for Friday’s Listed Racing Association Stakes this week.

The blue blooded Pathfork (his relatives include triple Australian champion sire Redoute’s Choice and 2018 Irish 2000 Guineas winner Romanised) has a single lot on offer at the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale but has four lots on the CTS Ready To Run Sale.
