The United States sister to Breeders Cup

25th Oct 2018

Talented two-year-old Hermosa, a full-sister to The United States, is one of 14 fillies to have drawn into the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, due to be run at Churchill Downs next week.

A $1 million race, the Juvenile Fillies Turf will be run over a mile next Friday.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Hermosa has won twice, from six outings, with her wins including a two and a half length score in the G3 Weld Park Stakes.

The filly was runner up in the G1bet365 Fillies Mile at her most recent outing and also finished third in September’s G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Hermosa also holds an entry for the 2019 G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas.

Her full-brother, The United States, was a superb athlete, who earned more than $2 million during his racetrack. A relative of champion sire Last Tycoon, The United States won seven times, with his four group victories including the 2016 G1 Ranvet Stakes.

Galileo, the sire of both Hermosa and The United States, made history recently when Magical became his 74th individual G1 winner. This takes Galileo, who has been responsible for more than 30 stakes winners in 2018 thus far, past the number of top level winners sired by his own legendary sire Sadler’s Wells.
