Irish champion Pathfork, whose half-brother War Of Will is now rated number 2 on the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) top three-year-old poll, has been enjoying a great run of form with his runners scoring all over South Africa, and the former G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes winner was at it again on Wednesday.

Pathfork enjoyed a mid-week double, with his progeny scoring impressively at both Scottsville and Turffontein on Wednesday, with the Pathfork double including an eye catching feature race win from his son Marchingontogether.

The latter made it win number three, from just nine starts, when defying sweltering weather conditions to win Wednesday’s umThombothi Stakes over 1950m at Scottsville.
Trained by Chesney Van Zyl, Marchingontogether, who had contested the G2 Gauteng Guineas at his previous start, scored a courageous three-parts of a length win over older rival Blackball , with G2 SA Oaks runner up Flichity By Farr back in third place.

Bred by Jagessar Limited, the 3yo colt (who has won or placed in seven of his nine outings) was an R80 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

Like Pathfork’s G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Red Chesnut Road and his recent Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Miss Honey, Marchingontogether is inbred to legendary sire Sadler’s Wells.

Himself a champion at two, Pathfork enjoyed more success on Wednesday when his brilliant daughter Mighty High outclassed her rivals to land an assessement plate at Turffontein in scintillating fashion. The talented Maine Chance Farms bred three-year-old, who had won the 2018 G1 Allan Robertson Championship, made it win number four, from just six outings, when running out a clear-cut 2.8 length winner of the 1160m race –despite racing keen early on.

Yet to finish out of the first two, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained Mighty High has now banked in excess of R700 000 –with the promise of more to come!

Her G1 winning sire has four lots on next month’s Cape Yearling Sale.
