The beautifully bred Flying Fable, whose G3 placed dam Allegoria is a half-sister to the G1 winners Potala Palace and Front And Centre, made it win number four, from just nine outings, with a good win at the Vaal on Tuesday.

Trained by Mike and Adam Azzie, the Highlands bred Flying Fable defied 60.5kgs to score a facile two length win in a fillies and mares handicap over 1600m under jockey Marco Van Rensburg.
The talented four-year-old, who had contested the G3 Acacia Handicap at her previous outing,  was a R500 000 purchase from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Flying Fable’s second dam is G3 Prestige Stakes runner up Alignment, whose progeny include this season’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas winner Front And Centre and Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winning sire Potala Palace.

This is the immediate family of English classic winners Golan and North Light, as well as Singapore champion Debt Collector.

A son of champion Singspiel, Potala Palace made a pleasing start with his first crop headed by G3 BMW Politician Stakes runner up Senatla, the stakes placed filly Watsonia, feature race winner Dalai’s Promise and the talented sprinter Palace Chapel (who has earned over R700 000 in prize money).

He has two runners, Palace Of Dreams and Singforafa, in Saturday’s G3 Pretty Polly Stakes, while Potala Palace sons Russian Prince and Basilius both contest the G3 Man O’War Sprint on the same day.

Potala Palace has two colts on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
