Quasillo filly lands Golden Slipper

2nd July 2022

Maine Chance Farms’ blue blooded stallion Quasillo hit the headlines on Saturday afternoon when his talented two-year-old daughter Ameena ran out a convincing winner of the G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper (1600m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
A first graded winner for Al Khayl Breeders, the Glen Kotzen trained Ameena had won the G3 Strelitzia Stakes two starts back before enduring a rough passage next time out in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship.

Ameena bounced back from that effort, with a five start performance in the Golden Slipper.
Under the red hot Richard Fourie, Ameena hit the front full of running someway from home, before powering away to score by half a length.

Out of the Dynasty mare Sabaha, Ameena has now won three of just four starts.

She is from the small second crop of Sea The Stars’ talented son Quasillo, whose other two-year-olds this season include the promising Piroushka.

Sire in his small first crop of the stakes performers Miss Putin and Quasiforsure, Quasillo is one of nearly 100 stakes winners for once beaten champion, and outstanding sire, Sea The Stars.

A half-brother to prominent Cape sire Querari, Quasillo won twice from just three starts and was Germany’s Champion 3YO of 2015.
