Klawervlei Stud’s Count Dubois is enjoying increasing success as a broodmare sire, and the former Equus Outstanding Stallion looks to have a very smart granddaughter to his name in the form of Australian based filly Scarlet Dream.
A 3yo daughter of Sebring, connections have high hopes for Scarlet Dream (who is out of the Count Dubois champion Asylum Seeker).

The Mark Newnham trained filly finished just under two lengths behind Verry Elleegant when second in the Australian Oaks at her most recent start and she will have a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Friday in preparation for her Brisbane targets of the Queensland Oaks and possibly Derby.

Newnham said the Group Two The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on May 18 would be Scarlet Dream’s first Brisbane race.

“All going well she will run in the Oaks then and then possibly the Derby,” Newnham said.

Scarlet Dream has won or placed in six of only seven races, with her placed efforts also including a close up third in the G3 Carlton Draught Kg Classic in March.

Her broodmare sire Count Dubois is also damsire of millionaire Budapest, top sprinter Pinnacle Peak, G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Melliflora and KZN Fillies Guineas Trial winner Arianos Shadow.
