Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari looks to have another nice sort to his name in the form of Choisaanada. The latter made a big impression when romping home to a twelve-and-a-quarter-length win at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Erico Verdonese, three-year-old Choisaanada had finished a close-up second on his only start prior to Saturday. Under Raymond Danielson, Choisaanada turned Saturday’s Betway Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1450m) into a procession, with Choisaanada drawing well clear in the closing stages to win as he liked.
Bred by Shadwell Stud, the progressive Choisaanada is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Musaanada, and is thus bred on the same Querari/Redoute’s Choice cross as last season’s G3 World Pool Gold Cup winner Master Redoute.
The colt was a R180 000 purchase from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.

South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, Querari has made an excellent start to the season, with his flagbearers including the likes of Questioning (G3 Kuda Matchem Stakes) and Rainbow Lorikeet (Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes).
Querari is also the sire of classy gelding At My Command, who ran third to his paternal half-brother Questioning in this season’s Matchem Stakes, with another gelded son of Querari, Cruise Control, victorious in this season’s Speedsters Stakes and Betway Cradock Place Stakes.
