Querari, Quasillo sister runs in New York Stakes

9th Jun 2017

Quidura (Dubawi), the talented ½ sister to Cape stallions Querari and Quasillo, is one of nine fillies and mares set to do battle in Friday’s G2 New York Stakes at Belmont Park.

Querari

Quidura, who is trained by Graham Motion, will jump from pole position in Friday’s $500 000 contest and gets the services of jockey Javier Castellano.

The lightly raced four-year-old, a winner of three of only five starts to date, is a past winner of the G3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes and was a close up third in the recent G1 Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland.

Her G1 winning half-brother Querari (by Oasis Dream) is one of South Africa’s best young stallions, with his early crops producing such high class graded stakes winners as Querari Falcon, Cosmic Light and Kangaroo Jack.

An Italian G1 winner and champion, Querari has 11 juvenile winners to his credit this season, including impressive debut winner and Listed Gatecrasher Stakes winner Monks Hood.

Another ½ brother, Quasillo (the only son of champion Sea The Stars at stud in South Africa), won the G3 Bavarian Classic in a brief career which saw him win or finish second in all three outings.

He will stand his first season at Klipdrif in 2017.

Services to both Querari and Quasillo will be up for offer at the Cape Breeders’ Stallion Services Auction at Highlands next Friday.
