30th Nov 2024

Ridgemont’s top-class stallion Rafeef came up with his 22nd stakes winner when his daughter Chasing Happiness won the G3 Betway Carry On Alice Stakes (1160m) at Turffontein on Saturday.

It was back to back Carry On Alice Stakes wins for daughters of Rafeef, with Rafeef’s daughter Mrs Browning victorious in the 2023 race.

Trained by Johan Janse Van Vuuren, four-year-old Chasing Happiness made it a hatrick of wins with a hard fought win in Saturday’s R300 000 contest.

Under Aldo Domeyer, Chasing Happiness got up in the shadow of the post to nab Elegant Ice and win by a head.

A winner of four of her past five starts, Chasing Happiness was bred by Ridgemont Highlands.

The filly, who is out of the Daylami mare Kalami, was a R200 000 buy from the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

Chasing Happiness has won five of 11 starts and has earned R472 375.

Her bang inform sire Rafeef also came up with an eye catching two-year-old winner on Saturday.
Rafeef filly Glastonbury made a winning debut when she won the South African Airways Maiden Juvenile Plate at Turffontein.

Trained by Paul Matchett, and ridden to victory by Rachel Venniker, the promising Glastonbury was bred by Pippa Mickleburgh.
