Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs had another notable success on Saturday when his son Money Matters claimed the G3 Breast Cancer Research Centre Of WA- Roma Cup (1200m) at Ascot.

Under Joseph Azzopardi, the Adam Durrant trained gelding claimed his tenth win, from 20 starts, with a courageous, head success in the Roma Cup.

Out of the Danehill mare Miz Nicholls, the four-year-old has now four black type wins to his name.

A $37,500 yearling buy, Money Matters has now earned over AUS$570 000. His sire made more headlines at Newmarket on Saturday, albeit this time as a broodmare sire -with Canford Cliffs broodmare sire of Saturday’s Listed Betway King Charles II Stakes heroine Bellosa (by Awtaad). The latter, now unbeaten in two starts, is a three-year-old daughter of the Canford Cliffs mare Poole Belle.

Money Matters’ Irish 2000 Guineas winning sire Canford Cliffs has already enjoyed success in Australia thanks to his millionaire son Cliff’s Edge, G2 Fillies Classic heroine La Falaise and G3 Tibbie Stakes winning daughter Princess Posh.

A group winner at Royal Ascot three years running, Canford Cliffs is currently sire of more than 40 black type horses with his progeny having banked over $28 million in prize money.

The son of Tagula has seven members of his first South African crop on offer at CTS Farm Yearling Sale, including a colt (Lot 1) out of speedy stakes winner Easy Street, a half-brother (Lot 100) to G2 winner My Sanctuary, and a colt (Lot 106) out of a stakes winning daughter of Var.

Canford Cliffs has a further eight lots on offer at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale-including a filly (Lot 137) out of the G1 placed Six Blue Notes, a half-brother (Lot 182) to G3 filly Gold Image, and a filly (Lot 214) from the same family as Diesis, Kris and Yulong Prince.
