Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s perennial leading sire Var came up with his 54th individual stakes winner when his progressive daughter Way Of The World won Saturday’s Listed Syringa Handicap (1600m) at Turffontein.

The Paul Peter trained four-year-old has made tremendous progress over the past 12 months, and her steady improvement was reflected when she picked up her first black type win.
Way Of The World pulled out more in the closing stages of Saturday’s R100 000 feature for fillies and mares and stayed on to account for the fancied G3 Acacia Handicap winner Wylie Wench by a length.
The winner, who was recording a hatrick of wins with Saturday’s score, claimed the 2021 Syringa Handicap in a time of 98.05 seconds.
Bred by Ditro Bloodstock, Way Of The World has now won seven of her 20 starts for earnings of R406 275.
She is one of 54 stakes winners sired by the Avontuur based Var -South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in both 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
Bred on the same Var/Street Cry cross as Winterbach sire Talk Of The Town, Way Of The World is out of the Street Cry mare Crimson Lane.
Sire of recent champions Anything Goes and Vardy, Var has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and a full-brother (Lot 169) to G2 SA Nursery winner William The Silent on the 2021 KZN Yearling Sale.
