Stonehill Stud’s graded stakes winning stallion Royal Mo had a good payday on Friday.
Royal Mo’s three-year-old daughter Sweetie Darling made a mockery of her 40-1 odds when she stormed home to win the East Cape Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Fairview.
In landing Friday’s Non-Black Type feature, Sweetie Darling took her tally of wins to four from 13 starts.
The Glen Kotzen trained filly received a fine ride from Chad Little in the East Cape Breeders Stakes.
Little bought his mount with a well timed challenge which saw Sweetie Darling go on to prevail in a head-bobbing finish.
Bred by Patricia Devine Investments (Pty) Ltd, Sweetie Darling races for Messrs B J Fegen & R Fegen.
The filly, who has won three of her last five starts, is out of the Captain Al mare Captain’s Darling.
Sweetie Darling was her sire’s only runner on the day, and gave Royal Mo 100% strike rate on Friday.
Winner of the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes, Royal Mo is a son of outstanding sire Uncle Mo, whose numerous top-class progeny include another outstanding sire in the form of Nyquist.
