Sail From Seattle offspring continues to soar

14th Feb 2017

When Seattle Spring made a winning debut over 800m at Monday, she continued the great run of success that Ascot Stud’s late, lamented sire Sail From Seattle has enjoyed this season with his two-year-olds.
Bred by the Riyo Stud, Seattle Spring (who cost R60 000 at last year’s National 2YO Sale), is the ninth juvenile winner this season for her sire –who is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOS (both by stakes and by individual winners).

Remarkably, no other sire has been represented by more than four two-year-old winners in 2016-2017 thus far!

Sail From Seattle, whose close relative Jackson’s first yearlings fetched up to R2 000 000 this year, has been represented by 19 2yo runners this season of which 13 have either won or finished in the money.

A proven G1 sire (whose top runners include former Cape Guineas winner Elusive Gold and top sprinter Gulf Storm), Sail From Seattle has seven lots on the Cape Yearling Sale, including a full sister to recent 2yo winner Puget Sound (Lot 1), a half-brother to  G1 Summer Cup third Master Switch (Lot 7), and a filly out of a three parts sister to top 2yo The Merry Widow (Lot 61).

The son of Gone West also has six yearlings on offer at the March Yearling Sale, including a filly from the same family as recent G2 Investec Dingaans hero Singapore Sling (Lot 89), a filly out of a seven time winning daughter of Var (Lot 142), a colt from the same family as this season’s top class filly Safe Harbour (Lot 174), and a colt whose dam is a winning half-sister to Met winning champion Past Master (Lot 246).
