Klipdrif Stud’s Equus Champion Elusive Fort enjoyed a memorable double on Saturday, when the triple G1 winner had success at both Durbanville and Turffontein.
Elusive Fort’s top class daughter Fort Ember showed her well being when landing a star studded pinnacle stakes over 1800m at Turffontein. The Carlos Herrera Gomez ridden six-year-old darted down the inside to swamp favourite, and G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic heroine Takingthepeace and score a 0.9 of a length win at the expense of the 2-1 favourite.
Further back came G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge hero Deo Juvente (3rd), G1 Sansui Summer Cup winner Liege (5th) and the latter’s Aquanaut Handicap winning stable mate Tambalang.
Now a seven time winner, and with prize money of R1 399 645 to her name, the Paul Peter trained Fort Ember holds an entry for the 2018 G-Bets Gauteng Summer Cup.
Bred by Arc-En-Ciel, Fort Ember’s previous scores included the 2017 G2 Gold Bracelet and 2017 G3 Flamboyant Stakes.
Her sire Elusive Fort was also responsible for a Cape winner on Saturday in the form of his son Paddington. The latter made it win number three when scoring a half length win over 2400m at Durbanville for trainer Joey Ramsden and jockey Donovan Dillon. Bred by the Wickensburg Stud, the gelding is out of Silvano matron Catapult.
Elusive Fort, whose previous stars include G1 winners Siren’s Call and Lauderdale as well as recent graded stakes winners Elusive Heart and Freedom Charter, has two sons representing him in Saturday’s G3 Cape Classic in the form of Elusive Trader and Lanza respectively.
His trio of lots on offer at the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale include a colt from the family of the above mentioned Deo Juvente (Lot 78) and a colt whose winning dam is a half-sister to the stakes performer Shingle Beach (Lot 90).
Elusive Fort also has seven lots on the 2018 CTS Ready To Run Sale, including a half-brother to Italian 1000 Guineas winner Evading Tempete (Lot93).
