Saturday five timer for Rafeef

17th May 2026

Ridgemont’s red hot sire Rafeef enjoyed a memorable spell on Saturday.
The G1 Computaform Sprint winning son of Redoute’s Choice was responsible for no fewer than five winners on the day, with Rafeef progeny winning at all of Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, Turffontein and Champ De Mars.

Rafeef’s seven-year-old son Secret Oasis made it two wins from his last four starts when he won The Nooresh Juglall Aqua Royal Middle Stakes in Mauritius on Saturday.
Another son of Rafeef, the high-class sprinter Ziyasha, picked up the eighth win of his career when he won the For Hospitality Bookings Call 011 681 1796 Pinnacle Stakes (1100m) at Turffontein on Saturday.
Under Gavin Lerena, the Clinton Binda trained five-year-old stayed on strongly to score by nearly a length and a half. It was a smart effort from Ziyasha, who had to lug 60kgs on Saturday.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Ziyasha races for Hollywood Racing. The gelding, who is out of the Kingmambo mare Kelly’s Olympics, took his earnings to well over R800 000 with his win on Saturday.
Ziyasha is likely now to line up in Saturday’s G2 Golden Horse Sprint.

The inform Rafeef had a trio of winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, with his two-year-olds Sparkling Star and Reef Runner both catching the eye.
The Candice Bass trained Sparkling Star caught the eye when running out a very convincing winner of Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m). Under Aldo Domeyer, Sparkling Star coasted home to win as she liked by two lengths. Just beaten on debut, Sparkling Star had excuses when finishing third next time out, but her win on Saturday stamped her as a filly to follow.

The well bred Sparkling Star, who is out of the Rambo Dancer mare Cast A Spell, races for Greenacres Trust, David & the Estate Late Dr Sandy Hepburn-Brown & Mr Guy Shirtliff.
The filly was bred by Greenacres Trust in partnership with Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud.

Another two-year-old by Rafeef to catch the eye on Saturday was Reef Runner. The latter made a winning debut for Justin Snaith, Richard Fourie and Nick Jonsson, when he ran out a dominant, three lengths winner of the Singapore Pools Trophy Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) on Saturday.

Bred by Millstream Farm, Reef Runner is out of the Captain Al mare Sails Set.

Rafeef’s third and final winner at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday came when his Adam Marcus trained daughter Raffish Trend ran out a game winner of the Bet With Tote Class 5 (F and M) (1500m. Under Craig Zackey, the three-year-old kept finding gamely in the closing stages to score by half a length.
Owned by her trainer and Wendy Probert, Raffish Trend has won two of her last four starts.

Her top-class sire Rafeef had also enjoyed success at Fairview on Friday, where Rafeef mare Enchanting Choice won the day’s feature race, the Walmer Handicap, and his son Black Egret won the seventh and penultimate race.
