South Africa’s Champion Sire elect for 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight, enjoyed another fine day on Saturday, when the G1 winning son of More Than Ready supplied four winners.

Gimmethegreenlight’s Listed KZN Guineas Trial winning son Stream Ahead captured the fourth race in Mauritius on Saturday, while three of the Varsfontein Stud based sire’s runners scored at Turffontein on the same day.
Gimmethegreenlight came up with his 25th Southern African two-year-old winner of 2020-2021 when his son Prince Of Fire made a winning debut, in open company, at Turffontein on Saturday.
The Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained gelding powered home, under July winning jockey Gavin Lerena, to win first time out by nearly a length and a quarter.
Turffontein’s second race on Saturday proved a good one for Gimmethegreenlight, with his son Prince Of Fire winning the race, and another first timer for the sire, About To Storm, running third.
Out of the Joshua Dancer mare Joshua’s Mistress, Prince Of Fire was bred by Ditro Bloodstock.
Gimmethegreenlight’s second success at Turffontein on Saturday came when his lightly raced son Sea Virescent stormed home, under Muzi Yeni, to capture the fourth race on the card by a head.
Trained by Alec Laird, the Millstream Farm bred three-year-old has now won twice from just seven starts.
The gelded Sea Virescent is out of the National Emblem mare Ocean Ridge.
His sire’s third, and final success, at Turffontein on Saturday came when the Gimmethegreenlight sired Me Time caused an upset to land the sixth race for trainer Corne Spies.
Another partnered by Muzi Yeni, the Varsfontein Stud bred filly stayed on to pick up her second win when scoring by a comfortable length.
Former G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Gimmethegreenlight has had an outstanding season in 2020-2021 with his 12 stakes winners thus far headed by the graded stakes winners Got The Greenlight, Cosmic Highway, Gimme Dat, Johnny Hero, Second Base and She’s A Keeper.
