Saturday four timer for Vercingetorix

16th June 2024

Maine Chance Farms (Pty) Ltd’s star stallion Vercingetorix dominated proceedings at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday where his progeny won four of the nine races.
Vercingetorix’s first success on Saturday came when his three-year-old daughter Ubukhwebezana won the first race, the Bet With Tabgold -The Intelligent Bet! Maiden Plate (F and M).
Under Marco Van Rensburg, the MJ Odendaal trained filly came with a late run to get up close home and win by half a length win, with another Vercingetorix filly, Avernian Goodess, finishing second.
Bred by Maine Chances, Ubukhwebezana is out of the Noordhoek Flyer mare Felicity Flyer.
Vercingetorix gelding Noble Warrior became his sire’s second winner on Saturday when he landed the Gallop TV Maiden Plate (2200m). Under a well-judged ride from Rachel Venniker, the Michael Roberts trained three-year-old stayed on best of all to shed his maiden by just over half a length.
Bred by Mr and Mrs Davies, Noble Warrior was trying the 2200m trip for a first time on Saturday having finished second over 1700m two starts back.
Noble Warrior is out of the Diesis mare Scent From Above.
Vercingetorix struck yet again in the very next race when his progressive son Get Impressed scored a courageous win in the www.galloptv.co.za Pinnacle Stakes (1600m).
Under Muzi Yeni, the Justin Snaith trained three-year-old powered home to get up in the shadow of the post and score by a short-head. Among those beaten by Get Impressed was his G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winning stablemate Double Superlative, who could only finish fourth.
Bred by Millstream Farm, Get Impressed has now won three of 12 starts, with the gelding victorious in two of his last three starts.
Get Impressed is out of the Al Mufti mare So Impressed and is thus bred on the same cross as dual-graded stakes winner Ikigai.
Vercingetorix’s final success at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday came when his son Strathclyde won the eighth race on the card. Under Richard Fourie, the Tony Rivalled trained three-year-old made much of the running in Saturday’s Gallop TV Youtube Channel MR 84 Handicap (1400m) and he kept finding more to win gamely by just under half a length. Yet another son of Vercingetorix, Rosh Kadesh, came from a long way off the pace to get up for third spot.
The lightly raced Strathclyde has now won three of six starts for his connections.
Bred by Ndoro Stud, Strathclyde is out of the Western Winter mare Zephira.
