Varsfontein Stud’s inform homebred sire Master Of My Fate has made a bright start to the 2022-2023 racing season and the strapping son of Jet Master struck twice when responsible for a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Master Of My Fate’s daughter Fashionigma broke her maiden in clear-cut style when she ran out a ready winner of Sunday’s Mobile Betting Visit www.trackandball.co.za Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1750 metres.
Now in the care of Alyson Wright, Fashionigma bounded clear under Rachel Venniker to win as she liked by nearly four and a quarter lengths.
The Rous Bros bred filly had finished fourth in each of her three previous starts with Fashionigma building on those efforts with a fluent win on Sunday.
Master Of My Fate’s second success on Sunday came when his Boland Stud bred son Papa C captured the seventh race on the card.
Under Keagan De Melo, the Duncan Howells trained gelding hit the front 300m from home in Sunday’s www.tabgold.co.za MR 73 Handicap (2400m) by just over two lengths.
Sent off tote favourite for Sunday’s contest, Papa C was winning for a second time.
The gelding is out of the Captain Al mare Light Blue and is thus bred on the same Master Of My Fate/Captain Al cross as graded stakes winners Basadi Faith and Pretty Betty.
Master Of My Fate had a fine season in 2021-2022 when he ended up fourth on the General Sires List with his progeny banking more than R13.35 million in stakes.
