Mauritzfontein’s consistently successful sire Ideal World made headlines at Turffontein on Saturday when his three-year-old son Tamarisk Tree made a brilliant debut.
Trained by Robbie Sage, Tamarisk Tree proved a reluctant starter in Saturday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Maiden Plate (1600m) but this proved no obstacle for the promising colt.
Under a positive ride from Muzi Yeni, Tamarisk Tree shot clear down the inside of the Turffontein track before powering away to score impressively by five and three-quarter lengths.
It was a smashing performance from the son of Ideal World, with Tamarisk Tree having to overcome a tricky draw on debut.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Tamarisk Tree is out of the well performed Belong To Me mare Milk And Honey .
Saturday’s debut winner was a R340 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
His Prix Pelleas winning sire Ideal World has proved consistently successful since retiring to Mauritzfontein back in 2010.
To date, Ideal World has been responsible for 29 stakes winners, with his black type winners headed by former Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge and fellow Equus Champions Hermoso Mundo and Smart Call.
