The Sandown Stud based Pathfork is having another fine season in 2022-2023 and the G1 winning son of Distorted Humor struck again at Turffontein on Saturday.
Pathfork’s progressive three-year-old son Jimmy Don picked up the biggest win of his career to date when he captured the Listed Secretariat Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.
Trained by Erico Verdonese, Jimmy Don had won two of his previous four starts prior to Saturday’s Secretariat Stakes, and the Pathfork gelding made it win number three from just five starts with a fluent win in Saturday’s R175 000 Listed feature.
Under Gavin Lerena, Jimmy Don hit the front 200m from home and powered away to claim his maiden black type win by two lengths.
Bred by Willem Engelbrecht Jr, Jimmy Don is out of the Joshua Dancer mare Joshlin.
Jimmy Don is the 14th stakes winner for Pathfork, Ireland’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2010.
From the same female line as former champion South African sire Northern Guest, Pathfork’s other flagbearers this season include repeat G2 Allied Steelrode Onamission Charity Mile winner Bingwa, high-class three-year-old Royal Victory and Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stayers runner up Marchingontogether.
