Ridgemont’s blue blooded stallion Real Gone Kid came up with a seventh first-crop winner on Saturday.
His gelded two-year-old son Kid From The South became his sire’s latest winner when he won the first race at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Under Tristan Godden, Kid From The South kicked on strongly down the inside. The son of Real Gone Kid kept finding more to win the Gallop TV Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) by just over three-parts of a length.
Trained by Stuart Ferrie, Kid From The South was making just his second start on Saturday with the gelding having finished second on debut.
Bred by Stone Hill Stud, Kid From The South races for Mr G Green & Mrs M Green, Messrs S V Fenger, P Govender, P de Marigny & Box 9 Syndicate.
Saturday’s winner is out of the Flower Alley mare Southern Charm.
By four times Australian Champion Sire Snitzel (the latter is poised to become Australia’s Champion Sire again this season), Real Gone Kid currently ranks as one of South Africa’s leading first season sires of 2025-2026.
