Just days after his son Star Major won the G1 Daily News 2000, Maine Chance Farms’ red hot sire Querari enjoyed further G1 success.
Querari gelding Questioning picked up his first G1 win when he won the G1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge (1600m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.

In the process, Questioning became the sixth G1 winner for Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2Yos in 2018-2019.
Trained by Vaughan Marshall, five-year-old Questioning made it four wins in a row with his victory on Saturday, with the gelding’s winning streak including triumphs in both the G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes and G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes.

Under Richard Fourie, Questioning fought out a ding-dong finish with a game, front running Legal Counsel, with Questioning just getting up in the shadow of the post to score by a short-head.
Bred by Alec Foster, Questioning races for Greg and Gina Bortz, Mukund Gujadhur and the Wernars Family.

His win on Saturday took Questioning’s tally to 11 from 26 outings, with the gelding, a close second in this season’s G1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate, having won six graded stakes races.
Out of the Captain Al mare Wheredowego, Questioning is bred on the same cross as fellow graded stakes winners Head Honcho and Kampala Campari, as well as the hugely exciting two-year-old Turn It Up.
Questioning is one of six stakes winners for his sire this season, with Querari runners having already earned more than R18.7 million in stakes.
