Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs came up with his 30th stakes winner on Saturday.
Canford Cliffs’ progressive son Miami Mountain became his sire’s latest black type winner when he won the G3 TAB National Currency Sprint (1100m) at Turffontein.
Trained by Mike and Mathew De Kock, the Canford Cliffs colt was given a well judged ride by Jeffrey Syster in Saturday’s R275 000 contest.
Syster bought Miami Mountain with a strong late run from the back of the field, and the pair scythed through the field to get up and win by just over three parts of a length.
The colt, who benefitted from blinkers in Saturday’s race, has won four of seven starts and has earned R394 013.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Miami Mountain races for Hollywood Racing.
Also the sire of such high-class local performers as Direct Hit, Tenango and Fish River, Canford Cliffs has a single lot on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale, and a single colt on sale at the Premier Yearling Sale.
