Ridgemont’s promising young stallion Real Gone Kid came up with a second, first-crop winner on Sunday.
His two-year-old daughter Lady Jean got off the mark at the second time of asking when she won the Join The Race Coast Turf Club Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m).

The Glen Kotzen trained filly was given a fine, front running ride by Chad Little, with Little keeping his mount going strongly in the closing stages.
Lady Jean showed plenty of heart in holding off runner up Vibe Check to win by a long neck.

Bred by Mr and Mrs Davies, Saturday’s winner races for Mesdames G Burg & Roberta Jansch & Messrs David Cohen & M J T Wickens.

Lady Jean, who had finished seventh on debut, is out of the Right Approach mare Secret Plan. The latter has a Master Archie filly on offer at the upcoming Premier Yearling Sale.

Saturday’s winner joins impressive debut winner Master Mtoto as early winners for their Snitzel sire Real Gone Kid.

The latter, a son of the Jet Master sired champion In The Fast Lane, won six of just 13 starts, shares his four times Australian Champion Sire Snitzel with no fewer than 167 stakes winners including such successful sires as Shamus Award and Russian Revolution. Another son of Snitzel, Sword Of State, is currently one of the Leading First Season Sires in New Zealand this season.

Real Gone Kid has six lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale and a further four lots on the Premier Yearling Sale.
