Moutonshoek’s successful stallion The United States is enjoying a wonderful season in 2025-2026.
The chestnut’s great run continued when his classy daughter Rodeo Drive won the G2 Mike De Kock Ipi Tombe Challenge (1600m) at Turffontein on Tuesday.

Trained by Sean Tarry, the four-year-old was given a superb ride by Philasande Mxoli to claim Tuesday’s R500 000 feature race.

Mxoli was quick to take his mount to the front, and Rodeo Drive went out to make all.
The daughter of The United States kept finding more in the closing stages, with Rodeo Drive staying on gamely to win by a short-head.

Bred by the Sandown Stud, Rodeo Drive has won four of 17 starts and has earned R1,087,938 in stakes.

The filly, who is out of the Horse Chestnut mare Crystal Cavern, races for HarakaBloodstock(Pty)Ltd (Nom:Jodi Pieters)G Ambrose,K Maher,C Spalding,DS & MJ Slade,S&T Cawdry,B Taylor,D Priest,A Doyle & B Holland.

Rodeo Drive had previously finished runner in this season’s G2 Betway Joburg Spring F and M Challenge and third in the G2 Allied Steelrode-Onamission Charity Mile.

Her G1 Ranvet Stakes winning sire The United States had also enjoyed stakes success this season with his sons Tin Pan Alley (G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge, G3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes) and The US Of A (Southeaster Sprint).
