Promising filly Capitana, who hails from the same family as exciting young Cape sire The United States, made it three wins from just five starts when scoring an impressive victory at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

A four-year-old daughter of Captain Al, the Brett Crawford trained Capitana exploded past her rivals to win going away, by a length and a quarter, over 1200m.
Described by her connections as a “bull of a filly”, the Ridgemont Highlands bred and owned filly was ridden to victory by Anton Marcus.

Out of the Galileo mare Exotic, Capitana’s fifth dam is the Mill Reef mare Mill Princess, who not only ranks as the dam of G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner, and champion sire, Last Tycoon, but also as the fourth dam of the Moutonshoek based stallion The United States.

The latter, a son of the world’s premier sire Galileo, won seven times, and earned over $2 000 000, including the G1 ATC Ranvet Stakes.

Bred on the same Galileo/Pivotal cross as this year’s outstanding filly Love, The United States is a full-brother to outstanding fillies Hydrangea and Hermosa and his dam is G2 Prix du Gros-Chene winner Beauty Is Truth.

The United States, whose first crop race this season, has five lots on this week’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
