Leading sire Dynasty has had a remarkable season in 2016-2017, with his daughters proving especially effective at the highest level.

His brilliant daughter Bela-Bela, Equus Champion last season, added further gloss to her sire’s fine season when romping to an easy 3.75 length in Saturday’s G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes at Greyville.
In lifting the spoils in Saturday’s R1 000 000, Bela-Bela made it win number seven, from just 13 outings, and took her earnings to R2 580 625.

The Cheveley Stud bred four-year-old, a R1.4 million buy from the 2014 National 2YO Sale, has now three G1 victories to her name, with Bela-Bela having previously triumphed in last season’s G1 Woolavington 2000 and this season’s G1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes.

The flashy grey, who conquered subsequent Vodacom Durban July winner Marinaresco when third at her penultimate start in the G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge, looks on course to possibly record yet another Equus award in August.

Former July winner Dynasty, who was represented by two runners in the 2017 Vodacom Durban July, has had another big year this season, with his nine individual black type winners landing no fewer than 16 black type races in 2016-2017, including the G1 Woolavington 2000, G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas, G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas, and his son African Night Sky landing all three legs of the Cape’s Winter Series (sponsored by Highlands Stud).

The champion’s progeny, understandably, have once again proved very much in demand in sales rings around South Africa this year, with Dynasty’s progeny fetching up to R5.75 million in 2017.
