Cheveley Stud bred and based Horse Of The Year Legislate recorded a third first-crop winner when his two-year-old daughter Veronica Mars made a winning debut over 1200m at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

Trained, like Legislate himself, by Justin Snaith, the Cheveley Stud bred Veronica Mars flashed up late down the inside of the course to get up and win by a head on debut

Veronica Mars was ridden to victory by Sandile Mbhele.

The filly, who is out of the Captain Al mare Earth’s Orbit, was a R150 000 buy from last year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Veronica Mars joins impressive recent winners Speed Machine and Toto as first crop winners for multiple Equus Champion Legislate.
