Ridgemont’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef has had another good season in 2023-2024 thus far, and the son of Redoute’s Choice looks to have yet another smart sort to his name in the form of Beating Wings.
The latter made it three wins in a row when winning at the Vaal on Thursday, with Beating Wings having now won three of just four starts.
Trained by Stuart Pettigrew, Beating Wings proved too strong for her opponents in Thursday’s Take A Bet Wina Numba Numba FM 88 Handicap (1800m) when storming home, under Calvin Habib, to score by a length and a quarter.
Three-year-old Beating Wings had finished third on debut before winning each of her next three starts and she looks a well above-average filly.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Beating Wings is out of the Western Winter mare Cool River.
Her sire Rafeef has had a fine season with his flagbearers including G3 Joburg Tourism Carry On Alice Stakes winner Mrs Browning as well as fellow black type winners Aragosta, Juliet Tango and Troppo Veloce and G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship runner up Thunderstruck.
A full-brother to Equus Champion Mustaaqeem, Rafeef had yearlings make up to R1 200 000 at the recent Cape Racing Premier Yearling Sale Powered by Tattersalls.
