Thursday double for Erupt

29th Nov 2024

Maine Chance Farms’ dual G1 winning stallion Erupt struck twice on Thursday. The son of Dubawi had a pair of winners at the Vaal’s Thursday meeting with Erupt having a 100% strike rate on the day.
His first success came when his four-year-old daughter Mount Etna won the second race, the TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 FM 87 Divided Handicap (1800m).
Under a well-judged ride from Chase Maujean, Mount Etna quickened up nicely in the closing stages to stay on and win by a neck.
Bred by Keivan Stud, the Fanie Bronkhurst-trained filly has now won three times, with Mount Etna having finished third and second respectively in her two starts before Thursday’s win.
Out of the Dynasty mare Kenton On Sea, Mount Etna was a R70 000 buy from the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale.
Her sire struck again when Erupt filly Flamboyant Flyer won the fourth race at the Vaal on Thursday.
Under Kaidan Brewer, the four-year-old was slowly away in the Racing240 For Racing. For You FM 70 Divided Handicap (1800m). The Craig Mayhew trained filly stayed on strongly down the inside of the track to win by three parts of a length.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Flamboyant Flyer has now won twice.
Out of the Silvano mare Frequent Flyer, Flamboyant Flyer is bred on the same Erupt/Silvano cross as this season’s G3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes winner Moonlight Trader.
