Thursday double for Gimmethegreenlight

29th May 2026

Multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight had a notable double at the Vaal on Thursday.
Not only did the Varsfontein based sire’s daughter Arrogance make a winning debut on Thursday but his son Sky Pilot caught the eye when he got off the mark at the Vaal.

Two-year-old Arrogance made the perfect start to her career when she made a winning debut on Thursday.
Given a superb ride by Gavin Lerena, the Lucky Houdalakis trained filly appeared beaten in the final stages of the 4Racing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1200m) but Arrogance fought back gamely to win by a short-head.

Bred and owned by David Shawe, Arrogance is out of the Captain Al mare Al Danza and is thus bred on the same cross as G1 winners Gunner, Proceed and Sandringham Summit.

Gimmethegreenlight’s second winner on Thursday came when Sky Pilot romped home to win the TAB Telebet 011 074 0300 Maiden Plate (1400m).
Under Gavin Lerena, the Clinton Binda trained three-year-old pulled well clear of his rivals to score by three and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Nadeson Park Stud, Sky Pilot, who races for Hollywood Racing, is out of the Pathfork mare Skye Lane.

Multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight has enjoyed another fine season in 2025-2026, and has been represented by five black type winners this season.
The son of More Than Ready’s runners have already earned more than R19.496 million this season with Gimmethegreenlight currently runner up on the General Sires premiership.
