Wednesday double for The United States

28th May 2026

Moutonshoek’s red-hot sire The United States came to the fore once again on Wednesday.
The son of Galileo had three runners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday, for two winners.
The United States’ two-year-old son Bison Warrior caught the eye when he made all to win Wednesday’s Hollywoodbets Greyville Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).

Under Calvin Habib, the Wendy Whitehead trained colt always looked in control of Wednesday’s race, with Bison Warrior drawing off to win by nearly two and a half lengths.

Bred by Riethuiskraal Stud, Bison Warrior was making his fifth start, with the colt having finished second in each of his two starts prior to Wednesday.
Owned by Mesdames K Hadden, C P Shaw, Mr I D Howard & Adv S M Shepstone, Bison Warrior is out of the Judpot mare Indy Dancer.

The United States’ second success on Wednesday came when his son Quarter Master overcame a rough trip to win the Bet With Tote Maiden Plate (1000m).
Under Anaas Mosaheb, the gelded three-year-old raced wide round the turn, but battled back to get up and break his maiden by a neck.
Another bred by Riethuiskraal Stud, Quarter Master is out of the Trippi mare Quippi.
Wednesday’s winner races for Messrs G C Kalil, R A Hill & G D Hurree.

His G1 Ranvet Stakes winning sire The United States has had an excellent season in 2025-2026, with his flagbearers including the likes of Kingdundee, Tin Pan Alley, Rodeo Drive, Keukenhof and Care Forgot.
The regally bred son of Galileo has two lots on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale.
