Ridgemont’s Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos had a notable double at TAB Turffontein on Thursday.
The son of Captain Al struck first when his promising son Blunderbore ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Betway Summer Cup 28 November Maiden Plate (1450m).
The Mike and Mathew De Kock trained colt had finished third on debut before finishing second next time out and duly got off the mark at the third time of asking on Thursday.
Under Callan Murray, three-year-old Blunderbore romped home to shed his maiden by more than five lengths and he looks progressive.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Thursday’s winner, who races for Hollywood Racing, is out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Fee Fi Foe Fum.
Malmoos struck again on Thursday when his Mano Pandaram trained and owned son Kovil romped to a brilliant win in the eighth and final race.
Under Tristan Godden, the Malmoos colt stormed home to claim the Next TAB Turffontein Racemeeting Saturday 24 October MR 66 Handicap (1800m) by over six lengths.
Bred by Big Sky Ranch, Kovil, a winner of two of his last four starts, is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Mansoor.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2025-2026, Malmoos is also responsible for unbeaten star Marchland.
The latter has won all five of her starts including last season’s G2 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes.
The regally bred Malmoos has four lots on this weekend’s October Two Year Old Sale.
