Varsfontein’s top-class homebred stallion Master Of My Fate has had an excellent season in 2025-2026.
The son of Jet Master struck again when Master Of My Fate supplied two winners at Turffontein on Thursday.
His first success on Thursday came when Master Of My Fate gelding Doctor Strangelove won the third race at Turffontein.
The Alec Laird trained three-year-old got off the mark in fine fashion when romping home to win the Racing Today Maiden Plate (2000m).
Under Calvin Habib, Doctor Strangelove pulled well clear of his rivals to win by two and a half lengths.
The gelding, who was bred by Varsfontein Stud, was making just his third start, with Doctor Strangelove having finished third in each of his only two starts.
Owned by Gary Basel, Lance Clark,Grant Cornwall and Johnny Gerber, Doctor Strangelove is out of the Greys Inn mare Giveusakiss.
Master Of My Fate’s second success on Thursday came when his daughter Frangipani won the fifth race on the card.
Another partnered by Calvin Habib, the Robyn Klaasen trained three-year-old hit the front with 300m left to go, and she kept galloping strongly to win the TAB 4Racing APP FM 77 Divided Handicap (2000m) to score by two lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Frangipani races for Dayalan Chinsammy, Kebashni Aryan Pillay & TKP Racing.Out of the Judpot mare Tamarina, Frangipani is bred on the same cross as recent G3 TAB Jubilee Stakes winner Aladdin’s Lamp.
Currently fifth on the South African General Sires premiership, Master Of My Fate has been responsible for nine black type winners, who have won 12 stakes races in South Africa, in 2025-2026.
