Tiger two-year-old strikes

2nd Jul 2018

The Alchemy’s beautifully bred resident sire Where’s That Tiger enjoyed juvenile success on Monday when his daughter Pulcheria broke her maiden for trainer Tobie Spies.
Bred by Dr Ian Heyns, Pulcheria, who scored by half a length over 1400m at Flamingo Park, was produced by the Damascus Gate mare Aurelia Magna.

She is the third two-year-old winner to have emerged from Where’s That Tiger’s first South African crop of two-year-olds, with others including debut winner and feature race contender Temp The Tiger and fellow first out winner Perfect Tigress.

To date, Where’s That Tiger has been represented by seven first SA crop runners who have won or finished in the money.

Where’s That Tiger, runner up in the UAE 2000 Guineas, had previously made his mark in South Africa with his stakes winners Tiger’s Touch (G3 Sycamore Sprint), Supertube (G3 Racing Association Hcp) and Tiger Quest (Gardenia Handicap).

Out of a full-sister to Kentucky Derby winner and proven G1 sire Fusaichi Pegasus (sire of South African Broodmare Of The Year Our Table Mountain among others), Where’s That Tiger is a son of multiple champion sire and broodmare sire Storm Cat, the sire of such outstanding stallions as Giant’s Causeway, Hennessy, Tale Of The Cat, Harlan, Stormy Atlantic, and Forest Wildcat.

Storm Cat’s numerous outstanding male line descendants also include the 2018 US Triple Crown winner Justify.

Where’s That Tiger has two lots on offer at this week’s KZN Yearling Sale.
