Drakenstein’s evergreen champion sire Trippi has been in explosive form of late and the End Sweep son’s great form continued at Turffontein on Saturday afternoon where Trippi filly Iphiko continued her winning streak.
In landing Saturday’s Santos Trade Afrik Middle Stakes (1000m), four-year-old Ipihko made it four wins on the bounce, and four wins from just eight starts in total.
Under Richard Fourie, the Mike de Kock trained filly flew home to score impressively by two and a half lengths in Saturday’s contest.
Bred by Team Valor International, Iphiko is out of the Western Winter mare Valor Red and is thus bred on the same Trippi/Western Winter cross as exported G1 SA Classic victor Lobo’s Legend.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi had an outstanding weekend last week when his son Trip Of Fortune was awarded victory in the G3 Hollywoodbets Matchem Stakes and his daughter Santa Maria victorious in the same day’s G3 Diana Stakes.
Currently responsible for 89 stakes winners, Trippi has been responsible for more South African stakes winners than any other sire thus far this season.
