Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s blue blooded young stallion Talk Of The Town hails from one of the very best families in the stud book, and the handsome chestnut’s female line was yet again to the fore over the past weekend.
Top-class filly In Italian, whose fourth dam Dancing Show also ranks as the third dam of Talk Of The Town, picked up the second G1 win of her career when she captured Saturday’s G1 First Lady Stakes Presented by UK Heathcare at Keeneland.
A four-year-old daughter of Dubawi, In Italian made it back to back G1 wins with her score on Saturday, with In Italian having won the G1 Diana Stakes last time out.
In Italian quickly took command of the race as the field passed the Keeneland stands for the first time in the one-mile test. She set an easy, uncontested lead under Joel Rosario with opening fractions of :23.37, :47, and 1:10.45. Regal Glory under Jose Ortiz gained on the leader through the final turn, swung into the middle of the track at the top of the stretch, and were in a solid striking position. Regal Glory ran valiantly to close the gap but fell a length short of In Italian at the wire. The final time was 1:33.22.
“She got her speed going and relaxed going into the first turn. I was just there as a passenger,” said Rosario.
Out of G2 GTC Gold Coast Guineas winner Florentina (by Redoute’s Choice), In Italian has now won five of just eight starts.
In Italian and Talk Of The Town are both descendants of the outstanding broodmare Dancing Show, ancestress of numerous top-class thoroughbreds including legendary sire Redoute’s Choice and Rubick-the sire of impressive recent G1 Chandon Golden Rose Stakes winner Jacquinot.
