Drakenstein Stud’s champion resident sire Trippi is enjoying a superb season as a broodmare sire, and the son of End Sweep was represented by his fifth stakes winner as a damsire this year when his granddaughter Silver Bay landed the Juvenile Fillies Sprint Stakes on Saturday.
Now unbeaten in two outings, Silver Bay (a first stakes winner for sire Currency Swap) made all to land Saturday’s feature at Gulfstream Park West by a neck.
Silver Bay had previously won on debut by five and a half lengths, and is the latest high class performer produced by a daughter of Trippi.
The latter is also broodmare sire of 2017 graded stakes winners Miss Sunset (G2 Raven Run Stakes) and Multiplier (G3 Illinois Derby), as well as Kentucky sires Liam’s Map (a winner of 6 of 8 outings including the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile Dirt) and Not This Time (won G3 Iroquois Stakes, 2nd G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile).
Miss Sunset has won six of just 11 outings, and has earned over $600 000 in stakes.
Champion Sire in South Africa in 2015-2016, Trippi’s 68 stakes winners include the G1 winners Afrikaburn, Deo Juvente, For The Lads, Inara, Real Princess and R Heat Lighting, while his recent stakes winners include 2017 Golden Loom Handicap winner Graduation Day, a winner of six of his ten starts to date.
