The 2014G1 Durban Golden Horseshoe winner Afrikaburn, a son of Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi, picked up the seventh win of his career when he won the Listed Memorial Mile at Fairview on Monday.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the millionaire Afrikaburn showed his class by making all in the 1600m contest to score a half-length win over a fast finishing Star Chestnut and collected the second black type win of his career in the process.
Ridden to victory on Monday by Chase Maujean, the Tara Laing trained seven-year-old had finished third in the 2017 Memorial Mile.
Afrikaburn, who has won or placed in 24 races, is one of seven G1 winners sired by Trippi –South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, with Trippi’s other top level winners including R Heat Lightning, Inara, Real Princess, Lobo’s Legend, Deo Juvente and For The Lads.
Trippi has been enjoying another good season in 2018-2019 with his top performers including the graded stakes winners Chimichuri Run and Love To Boogie, Victress Stakes third Miss Katalin, impressive debut winner Window To Africa, and Afrikaburn.
The sire of more than 140 stakes horses overall, Trippi has six lots on the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
