Varsfontein Stud’s in-form sire Gimmethegreenlight enjoyed more success at Durbanville on Tuesday when responsible for two impressive winners-from just three runners carded.
Gimmethegreenlight, who had been represented by four winners over the past weekend, looks to have a smart prospect on his hands in the form of Gimme London. The latter made a winning debut over 1250m for trainer Candice Bass-Robinson at Durbanville on Tuesday when downing Skye Lane by a neck.
One of three winners on the day for jockey Aldo Domeyer, the 3yo filly is out of the well bred Northern Guest mare London Niece. She was a R300 000 buy from the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Gimme London, a full-sister to the smart, stakes placed filly London Secret, is also a three-parts sister to the Gimmethegreenlight sired G2 Umkhomazi Stakes winner Hack Green (one of 12 stakes performers to have emerged from his sire’s remarkable first crop).
Gimmethegreenlight’s second Durbanville winner on Tuesday came when his 3yo son Kalahari Ninja shed his maiden over 1400m for breeders Cheveley Stud and Justin Snaith (the former had previously trained Gimmethegreenlight himself). A full-brother to classy filly Frederico’s Dream, Kalahari Ninja was making just his third career outing and was backed to favouritism following a good fourth on his penultimate appearance.
A son of outstanding, and red-hot, shuttle sire More Than Ready, Gimmethegreenlight has a strong crop of 3yos representing him this season. His sophomores in 2018-2019 include G2 Golden Horseshoe hero Barahin, unbeaten filly Gimme Crystals, and the very talented Crown Guardian –fourth on the log for the 2018 R2 500 000 CTS Ready To Run Stakes.
South Africa’s Champion First Crop Sire of 2015-2016, Gimmethegreenlight (who has already nearly 30 black type performers to his name) has two lots on offer at the 2018 Ready To Run Sale in Germiston.
