South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight had a trio of winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday.
Gimmethegreenlight sired runners win races three, five and nine on Tuesday to give their sire a memorable treble.
Well-bred three-year-old filly Frida Kahlo got off the mark when she ran out a comfortable winner of the P3 Racing Syndicate Open Maiden (F and M) over 1200 metres.
Under Richard Fourie, the Justin Snaith trained filly powered away to score as she liked by two and a quarter lengths.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Frida Kahlo was making just her third start on Tuesday.
The filly is out of the Peintre Celebre mare Aquatint.
Gimmethegreenlight’s second success on Tuesday came when his son Gentleman Joe caused a 33-1 surprise to win the RaceCape Powered By Hollywoodbets Class 4 (1600m).
Under Corne Orffer, the six-year-old kept finding in the closing stages to win by a neck.
The Andre Nel-trained Gentleman Joe has won or been placed in 14 of 24 starts.
Bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, the gelding is out of the Fort Wood mare Dumani. Gentleman Joe is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Fort Wood cross as graded stakes winners Eye Of The Prophet, Second Base, Hack Green, Green Pepper and Cala Muretta.
On Tuesday, his sire’s third and final success came when Gimmelightning captured the ninth race at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Runner up in the Listed Southeaster Sprint last time out, the Justin Snaith trained four-year-old powered home, under JP Van Der Merwe, to score by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Gimmelightning, who has won three times, is out of the Jet Master mare Berlinetta and is bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners La Bella Mia, Universal, Green Plains and One Night In Paris.
