Two in a row for Silvano

18th January 2019

Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano had a quickfire double at Kenilworth on Thursday, with his runners winning races four and five respectively.

Bold Silvano

Silvano’s 3yo daughter Star Of Silver defied a poor draw when she romped home to break her maiden by three and a half lengths, over 1600m, for trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Richard Fourie.
Bred by Patricia Devine, Star Of Silver, who looks a potentially above average sort in the making, is a full-sister to Listed Oaks Trial runner up Our Shining Star.

Thursday’s winning filly is also a three-parts sister to the Silvano sired graded stakes winners Silver Flyer and Sylvan On Fire.

Out of the Jet Master mare Cosmic Jet, Star Of Silver is bred on the same Silvano/Jet Master cross as the high class performers Hawwaam, Silvano’s Jet, Silvano’s Pride, Sylvan On Fire, and Platinum Class.

Grand Silvano followed up Star Of Silver’s success by taking the very next race for trainer Brett Crawford and jockey Corne Orffer. Showing plenty of courage, the Ascot Stud bred four-year-old gelding squeezed his way through a gap near the rail and bounded clear to score a half length win over the Australian bred Meraki.

Vercingetorix

The consistent Grand Silvano, who has won or placed in 11 of his 12 outings, has now won two of his last three starts.

His multiple champion sire Silvano has two runners (Miyabi Gold, Sylvan On Fire) in Saturday week’s G1 Bidvest Majorca Stakes, and by Nao Faz Mal and Silvano’s Pride in the same day’s CTS 1600. Other progeny, Arabian Air and Sugerpova, line up in the CTS 1200, while Silvano will be represented by three runners in the same day’s G2 New Turf Carriers Stayers –Elusive Silva, Strathdon and Ollivander.
