Drakenstein Stud’s successful sire Philanthropist looks to have a smart filly on his hands in the form of Vivir.
The latter made it two wins from just three starts when romping home to win by 3.4 lengths, over 1400m at Turffontein for Ormond and Luke Ferraris (Luke is unbeaten on Vivir, having also been aboard the filly when she won on debut).
Owned by breeders Ditro Bloodstock, Vivir had won first time out before taking her chance in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship last season.
The promising 3yo, who is out of the Sportsworld mare Sparkling Nymph, looks destined for bigger things.
Vivir is from her sire’s third South African crop, which has also produced G3 Umkhomazi Stakes third Ganesh Talai, the smart Heaven’s Reward (also a winner of two of three outings), and Golden Horseshoe contender Clifton Crusher.
Philanthropist, North America’s Leading All Weather Sire in 2014, is also responsible for champions Pender Harbour and Phil’s Dream, Hong Kong star Singapore Sling (whose local wins included the G2 Investec Dingaans), G1 Investec Cape Derby third Pack Leader, and the smart fillies She’s A Giver and Sail.
