Exciting three-year-old colt Al Mutawakel, a full-brother to 2017 G1 SA Derby winner Al Sahem, stamped himself a smart prospect when making it two wins from as many starts at Turffontein on Sunday.

The Al Adiyaat bred and owned colt had previously caught the eye (especially as a brother to a Derby winner) when making a winning debut over 1200m for trainer Sean Tarry and jockey Lyle Hewitson earlier this month, and the son of Silvano looks a potentially exciting sort in the making.

Excitingly, Al Mutawakel’s well performed Al Mufti dam Alderry has been confirmed in foal to no less a stallion than unbeaten superstar Frankel.

A half-sister to G2 Umkhomazi Stakes/Al Bastakiya winner Royal Vintage , the now UK based Alderry was a top-class performer who earned over R770 000 during her racing days.

The daughter of Al Mufti and Fort Wood mare Derry Wood picked up the biggest win of her career when downing some top class male rivals to win the 2010 G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile (where she beat such G1 winners as Pierre Jourdan, Aslan, and Rudra).

Frankel, the highest rated horse in the history of Timeform, has had another excellent season in 2019, with his top performers including G1 Jebel Hatta winner Dream Castle, G1 French 1000 Guineas third East, and the very exciting classic hopes Anapurna and Mehdaayih.
