Varsfontein Stud’s red hot resident sire Master Of My Fate dominated proceedings at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon, when the strapping son of Jet Master supplied three winners on the Vaal’s eight race card.
Remarkably, Master Of My Fate sired runners scored a hatrick on Thursday, with the sire’s daughters Bellevarde and Lady Regent winning races two and three respectively, before Master Of My Fate gelding Imperial Master won the fourth race on the card.
The Joe Soma trained Bellevarde was dispatched tote favourite for Thursday’s Play Soccer 6, 10 and 13 FM 90 Handicap (1800m) and she duly obliged. Under S’Manga Khumalo, the four-year-old appeared in trouble someway out but rerallied to get up and win going away by just over a length and a half.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Bellevarde, who has won three of just ten starts, has now won three of just ten starts.
Trying the 1800m trip for a first time, the Candice Dawson trained Lady Regent provided Master Of My Fate with his second winner on Thursday when she won the TAB 4Racing App Maiden Plate (F&M) on Thursday.
Under logleading jockey Keagan De Melo, three-year-old Lady Regent hit the front close home and stayed on strongly to break her maiden by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Oldlands Stud (also breeder of Master Of My Fate’s G1 winning daughter Zarina), Lady Regent is out of the Silvano mare Queen Dagmar.
Master Of My Fate is also the sire of Imperial Master, who made it three wins in a row for his sire when winning Thursday’s Racing 240 For Racing. For You Middle Stakes (1600m).
In a thrilling, three-horse finish, the Stuart Pettigrew trained Imperial Master stuck his head down where it mattered most and got up to win by a short head.
Bred by Patricia Devine Investments, five-year-old Imperial Master has now won four times.
His sire Master Of My Fate, also responsible for this season’s Listed TAB4Racing Algoa Cup winner Han Solo and Beach Beauty hero Broadway Girl, is currently third on the general sires list for 2022-2023.
