Just days after daughters Sommerlied and Casual Diamond ran 1-2 in the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes, prominent Cape sire Var had another daughter make an eye catching debut.
This time it was the Collingwood Stud bred Royal Sensation, who dug down deep to get up and dead for victory on debut.
Trained by Glen Kotzen, Royal Sensation ran on powerfully under jockey Richard Fourie to get up in the shadow of the post to dead head for first over 1200m.
Closely inbred to the great miler Zilzal, Royal Sensation was produced by the Among Men mare Among Royalty.
Her sire Var has a tremendous record with his daughters- with Var fillies including champions Val De Ra and Via Africa, as well as such graded stakes winners as Princess Of Light, Valdivia, and Miss October.
His recent feature race winning daughter Sommerlied, winner of five of her six outings, is likely to be aimed at the G1 Cape Flying Championship.
Var, who had a daughter make R5 000 000 earlier this year at the National Yearling Sale, is also an emerging broodmare sire and is already damsire of stakes winners Zen Arcade, Mambonick and She’s A Giver.
