Maine Chance Farms’ multiple G1 winning stallion Vercingetorix has made an exceptional start with his first 2yo runners this season, and the son of Maine Chance’s own champion sire Silvano made the news once again at Kenilworth on Saturday.

This time, it was the Vercingetorix colt Fearless Warrior who shone, with the Klawervlei Stud bred colt making all to win a juvenile plate over 1200m for trainer Vaughan Marshall and jockey MJ Byleveld.
In the process, Fearless Warrior (a good winner on debut) accounted for the highly regarded Frankel colt General Franco, among several other promising two-year-olds.

Out of the Captain Al mare War Path, Fearless Warrior was a R275 000 buy from the 2018 April Yearling Sale.

A first runner, and winner for his sire, Fearless Warrior has now won two of only three starts and he looks yet another bright prospect for Vercingetorix.

The latter, South Africa’s Equus Champion 3YO Colt of 2012-2013, has already been responsible for nine first crop winners, with this tally including G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes hero African Warrior and Viking Moon and Hooves Of Troy –the first and second finishers respectively in the Listed East Cape Nursery. Both Viking Moon and Hooves Of Troy have been entered for Friday’s Listed Dahlia Plate, set to be run over 1200m at Fairview.
